However, there are a number of FAQs and we hope it will help you to have the answer to
these at your fingertips!

It is usually advisable to make an appointment in advance, this will ensure that you have the personal attention of one of our experienced staff to help you. Weekends in particular are very popular times! You are welcome to book via the contact form on our website, by email, phone or in person.

Bridal appointments on Weekdays or a Saturday are not charged for! Private Sunday or evening appointments are available with for charge of £50.

Our appointments usually last around 1.5 hours and our friendly assistants are committed to giving you a professional and personal consultation, assisting you in your choice of what to try and providing you with relevant and honest advice, to help you find your perfect gown and accessories.

It can be helpful to bring someone you trust to your appointment. We advise one or two people ideally and three guests as a maximum as this makes for a more relaxed experience.

We stock a wide range of sample dresses ranging from size 6-24, with the intention that every bride is able to try on a lovely range of dresses. However, if a dress that you love is not in your size, our consultants with either pin or extend the dress to give you a really good idea of how the dress will look.

Yes, many of our designers are happy to customise the dresses to suit your specific requirements. Alternatively, we can bespoke your gown for you in store.

It is best to order your gown with plenty of time to spare, this means you will have the best possible choice of gown options and have time to enjoy your fittings. We will usually recommend ordering your gown in the size you are at the time, we offer a full in-house alterations service which can take your dress down once it arrives in store. It is always better to err on the side of caution, as a dress can be easily reduced in size. However, if you wish to discuss the size being ordered for you, we are always happy to chat with you beforehand.

Congratulations! You have found your dream dress. You will now be measured so that a dress can be ordered in the size nearest to fit you. We always ask for a deposit of 50% of the cost to order your dress, this deposit is non-refundable. The balance of the order is due when the gown arrives at our premises. Any alteration charges are payable before you collect your gown.

We also offer an interest free payment plan so that you can pay for your gown in manageable instalments, please ask for details.

Yes, we provide a wonderful full alterations service in the boutique.

Although we will order your dress in the closest size, you may need some alterations for an absolutely perfect fit. At Proposals we have an exceptional in-house alterations service. We usually work on the basis of having two fittings, one to pin and a second to check that you are happy with the changes. Of course, every bride is different and you may need an extra fitting or two. The alterations are subject to an additional charge which is based on the work carried out. There is no obligation to have your alterations done with us.

Once you have had all your fittings and your dress is perfect, we will store it for you. Most brides like to collect their gown a few days before the wedding, but we will arrange this with you individually. When you arrange to collect your dress we will then press and steam it free of charge, then pack it in a dress bag with much care! If you are travelling we also offer a special service to pack your dress into one of our purpose-made flight boxes, which can be purchased separately.

We offer a cleaning service and are happy to advise about the safest way to store your gown after the wedding. Plus we hope you will take the opportunity to show us your gorgeous photos and tell us all about the day!
